Essex Path to Prosperity
Coastal Community Fund Application
The Essex Path to Prosperity project is a new initiative funded until March 2021 by the Coastal Communities Fund, Essex County Council and a number of other partners.
The Project will;
- Raise awareness about the Essex coast to encourage more local people and visitors to the area to enjoy the wide range of opportunities here
- Develop tools to make it easier for visitors to build their own itineraries of things to do during their stay
- Provide maps and waymarking at or near to the coast to enable visitors to find their way more easily to and along the coast
- Promote sustainable access to the coast and the footpaths that run along to increase the use of bus and rail services
- Enable a pilot for a hopper bus service to operate at weekends during the summer months
- Deliver 20 apprenticeships for people coming to the end of short term contracts
- Provide business support and training for local businesses
- Provide creative courses (art and photography) at the coast
The project started on 1st April 2019 and will continue until 31st March 2021. The overall project costs total £925 000 with £663 000 of this being funded by the Coastal Communities Fund.
